Lucien Krauss decided to meet new challenges, after a successful career in business. He became a practised photographer, mainly active in advertising, but soon felt the urge to discover other continents in search of images capturing the dreamlike transience of travelling.

 Conjuring Asia with Light, Shadow, and Color

Monique Jansen started with photography about 10 years ago; around the same time she started travelling in Asia.

“[…] I am not a commercial photographer. I do not want to be intrusive, or call attention to myself. I photograph people, places, and nature in the light that is there, to tell a story as best as I can. […]”

The “Silken Photo Award” is an annual photo contest addressed to the European Photographers community.  To celebrate the 10^th Anniversary of the “Silken Photo Award”, before known as the “Silken PhotoPlate Award”, the Hotel Silken Berlaymont has changed the final destination of the winning photos. Pictures will be printed on the doors of the rooms instead of on the plates of the restaurant.

As in the past, it is an annual and reoccurring event.
This new concept has been created with the help of the Belgian Photographer, Lucien Krauss. He has been a photographer sins his youth, and after a long professional career he won this year the Silver Award in the pictorial category at the FEP European Professional Photographer.

On December 09th we have the pleasure to celebrate the opening of the exhibition of Lucille Feremans, the winner of the 10^th Silken Photo Award.

Come and admire her wonderful photo series “VELATA”. As from now, her pictures also decorate the doors of one entire room floor of the Hotel Silken Berlaymont****!!!

Charalambos Gagalis was born in Greece. 

After studying cinematography and photography he worked for a commercials director prior to concentrating more into fashion photography.

His work includes editorials for magazines, promotional pictures for designers, catalogues and advertising.

His recurrent themes are solitude, sex, and religion.

As a child, Alexandre Laurent used to accompany his father, an aerial photographer, when he went flying to take photographs. He discovered, at this early age, what would later become his life’s passion. His obsession of capturing the best image boosts him every time he boards an aircraft with his cameras.
