Michael Chia, winner of the “Silken Photoplate Award 2008”
Thursday, September 20th, 2007The Hotel Silken Berlaymont Brussels launched again this year the famous “Silken Photoplate Award », edition 2008.
The announcement of the winner took place at the hotel on the 13th of September.
A jury composed of 5 members came at the hotel and after hours of deliberation awarded the artwork of Michael CHIA.
The choice of the jury was motivated by the originality of the artist and the light, color and movement effects you can find on its pictures.
Michael Chia explains its artwork titled “Happy Rain” as follow:
” The series “Happy Rain” depicts a movement of colored umbrellas. To give a perception that rain does not necessarily mean staying indoors or grey skies and bad weather. Rain can lead to opportunities of catching people going about their daily lives set within vibrant colors, oblivious to the wetness that surrounds us.
What I attempt to share is: rain can be fun. If we can switch our minds and take a moment as an observer and look at the happy side of Life when the weather is bad.”
